Hey everyone,

Just wondering if anybody on here has done something similar or may have some wisdom to share?

Whilst recently cleaning 7+ years of dirt of the neck with a slightly damp microfiber cloth (very silly, I now know!) I ended up taking off some of the lacquer finish on about 1/3 of the neck.

I've re-coated it with Birchwood Casey tru-oil and gunstock wax (as per Musicman recommendation), so the neck seems protected and feels the nicest I have ever had it!

However, I'd really like to restore the finish back to it's former glory!

I'm just not sure how best to proceed with this job, as information about how these necks were finished seems to be fairly hard to find on the internet.

If you need more info please just ask, I'd be happy to have a chat about it

Thanks!!

:)

That looks great. You pay a fortune from the Fender Custom Shop to achieve that finish on a neck. I'd leave it; it's part of its history. Good luck if you do decide to go ahead. This reply will bump your post back up the line again, allowing more folk to read it.

Thanks snorkie, if I can't come up with something good then I probably will to be fair! It still feels great, it's literally just an aesthetics thing. It might grow on me in time?
