HeadlessBassist Posted April 17 Posted April 17 (edited) Well I'm just back from the Wakefield area and a battle through the maelstrom known as the M1, where I picked up this bitsa Jazz. It consists of a roasted Mexican Fender neck, a 'Guitar & Bass Build' high polished body, Schaller tuners, Hipshot bridge and active EMG pickups. I'll report more on the sound tomorrow when I've put some decent strings on it and set it up properly... Edited Wednesday at 12:30 by HeadlessBassist 12 Quote
jd56hawk Posted April 17 Posted April 17 (edited) If it sounds as good as it looks... As for decent strings, I'd go with GHS black tapewounds. Edited April 17 by jd56hawk 1 Quote
HeadlessBassist Posted April 17 Author Posted April 17 I usually put 40-95 Elixirs on my Jazzes, but I do have a set of barely used Thomastik Jazz Flats lying around... 1 Quote
madshadows Posted April 18 Posted April 18 That bass looks amazing, love the scratch plate, hope it plays and sounds as good as it looks John 😎 1 Quote

Changed the battery under the Scratch Plate, inspected all the crazy EMG wiring under the Control Plate, and put on a fresh set of Elixir 40-95's and it sings. Never had a Bass with those active EMG's before and I have to say, it's a very balanced and punchy sound. Didn't even need to play with the action - it's already on the deck and relief looks perfect. I'd say it's a winner. 1 Quote

80Hz Posted April 18 Posted April 18 Very nice. I'd seen this out there on the interwebs and thought it looked very distinctive and tastefully put together. I just wasn't in need of another jazz! Glad it found a new home 😀 Quote
HeadlessBassist Posted April 18 Author Posted April 18 Thanks, 80Hz. Yes it seems to have landed in the home of overworked Warners Resorts/Theatres Jazz Basses! 1 Quote
danbowskill Posted April 19 Posted April 19 i tend to hate gold hardware on basses, but on yours with the natural body and roasted neck it looks absolutley sublime! Quote
HeadlessBassist Posted April 19 Author Posted April 19 Yes, gold hardware tends to look good if everything else is subtle/muted. Quote
