Will there be a cheaper and better quality Japanese version of Reverb?

Fender Japan RV-24 2024 Vintage Reissue Reverb? Sold here in two colours but listed in twenty different finishes on the Ishibashi website.

I've, technically, bought one bass off Reverb, but only because I spotted a bass I wanted that was being sold by a dealer dealing through it. I then went to the dealer's own website and the bass was £800 less than advertised on Reverb, I expect due to their selling fees...Deal done and, although not needed, I expect the aftercare would have been much better if I'd dealt with the dealer directly rather than through Reverb. I'm not deluded in thinking I'm the only person who's done this.

I don't think Reverb can be judged on the people who use their platform, they can't really take action without just cause.

Last experience I had on Reverb was trying to land a pair of Alembic pickups for an upcoming project and the guy was pretty unreasonable just because I was in China.  I could arrange and pay for my own door to door shipping and he still wanted 30 bucks.  He eventually sold them for $100 less than he wanted from me.  Similar situation with a rare Carvin FS77 footswitch for a guitar preamp I sold just recently, the seller kept flip flopping until he got a US based buyer.

I've had good experiences with UK and European sellers though and the one time I needed support in dealing with a transaction that went a little awry, they stepped in promptly and chucked some Reverb credits at me to compensate for inconvenience.

I've only ever bought a bass off a Reverb seller once, and it was a complete success.  Ergo, there's absolutely nothing wrong with Reverb, you're all crazy, what the hell are you all talking about?

;)

Reverb has been fine for me. Have used it several times and never failed yet. Like ebay, amazon and others, it's just a means for you to engage with a mix of independent private and commercial sellers. I never had any trouble, studying feedback and past sales always pays off. To this day, the worst packed thing I ever bought was from here, the hardcase with a single strip of brown packing tape around it, bass inside, no other packaging material at all. I still love this place, though 🙂

I bought some b-stock Novation / Focusrite stuff before, no issues, good prices.

I also found a Startouch ABY pedal for like £60, amazing catch!

But there were a couple years ago, nowdays I could never see a decently priced pedal there whenever I checked.

Neeps, are you addressing everyone here, or just this punter Ergo?

I don't care, didn't really think about targetting.  I'm just using the same parochial view that is frequently trotted out, but in reverse to prove a point.

Same for me, a bass bought from this very parish, before Shitbreaks, that came totally unprotected in a too big hardcase without anything inside preventing it to move and, which is the most "delicious" part, with the shipping label sticked on the case itself that wasn't even locked by any means.

Thankfully, when the driver presented it to me, he agreed with me that this wasn't secured at all, so he opened it before me and the ACG bass inside was there and intact.

I was a bit upset, but the bass was fine.

That said, I still love this place. 😉

I had a Warwick Streamer LX shipped to me in just its gigbag, with an old t-shirt wrapped around the headstock. The shipping label was stuck to the gigbag itself, with no extra tape to keep it secure. That was quite the heart attack when it was delivered to my workplace. I didn't have the wits to ask the driver to hang around for a second while I inspected the bass, so he was gone in a heartbeat. Luckily it had survived intact, and it's one solid chunk of bass! Well, except for the neck pickup which turned out to be dead, but that was unrelated to the (lack of a) packaging job.

Not good enough. We wanna read everything about this Ergo guy. Seems like quite the character.
