KevSpurs Posted 19 hours ago Posted 19 hours ago Hi all I have been researching online for multi coils and alongside turners, herricks etc I came across this brand. They are based in the US. I cannot find much online about reviews and wondered if any of you have any experience with them? https://weldangpickups.com/pages/weldang-pickups I am interested in the codebreaker model for a future Wal alike build. 1 Quote
HeadlessBassist Posted 6 hours ago Posted 6 hours ago (edited) Hi, from his description it sounds like he's created hum cancelling 'stacked coils' like the Status single coils. (Tell me if I'm way off here, anyone!) Is your Wal-alike build going to have a similar parametric-style eq to the original? Did you try looking on TalkBass, being as the maker is American? (Good luck with their rather random search box!) Edited 6 hours ago by HeadlessBassist Quote
KevSpurs Posted 6 hours ago Author Posted 6 hours ago Thanks I will try TalkBass. On the site he is alluding to similarities with Wals. Just keen to know if anyone had used them cheers Quote
three Posted 6 hours ago Posted 6 hours ago (edited) Some nice bass designs IMO - all new to me. A bit of a Thompson/Wal-alike with a good few other influences (Alembic, Status - quite a transatlantic combination). If the multicoil pickups work/sound as advertised, then a reasonably priced option (and good to see more makers getting into the multicoil space… if you’re interested in a Wal-like tone). Graphite necks (Klos) on the basses too - interesting twist - and use of machine screws is reassuring (if executed well). In all, very reasonable prices for the specs. I’d really like to try both the basses and pickups Edited 6 hours ago by three Quote
