Would be interesting to hear that amplified and see if it is just a clusterf**k of twiddly twaddle.

Fretless with a pick.. uhmmm.. well..

I think he does play the bass on many of his records...

Here's UK's 'In the Dead of Night' where he nails the line.

Tony Franklin made quite the career out of it 😅

Even unamplified, Yngwie appears to be intonating quite well.

I loved a lot of his earlier stuff - fantastic guitar technique. I lost interest later as the songs weren't as good (to me, anyway) and live he just seemed to solo through everything.  He always had the reputation as having an enormous ego, but I watched his interview with Rick Beato and really enjoyed it. I think it was Steve Vai who said something along the lines of 'say what you like, but Yngwie raised the bar for all of us'

I used to play this in a band at college. Great Fun.

Yngwie's solo in this shows just hiw unworldly Alan Holdsworth was!

Just saw this reel of our Swedish Maestro showcasing his Fender basses with some shred.

Fretless with a pick! Sacrilege!

I don't have the instant gram so can't open the link. But Yngwie shredding on a bass? Meh!

Here's Paul Gilbert shredding on a double bass...

Sounds like he needs a good bass tech as everything is sounding exactly like a too straight neck and a too low action especially as he has not a soft touch at all, so it ends up like this: an awful rattling mess.

I had the (dubious) honour of working with him mixing a live album in the early 90's and can agree to that reputation. It would rank in my top 5 worse sessions.

However he knew his stuff on Stracocasters and would talk to me about how to date them from the number of scratch plate screws or the type of neck plate.

He also had a stunning Swedish girlfriend at the time.

Which was nice...

Oh yes! The original is Prog's last gasp of the 70's and is vintage Holdsworth. Entry point for many Holdsworth fans. Just a great song to start then Holdsworth raises the tension to unbearable levels before the release - killing!
