BassBus
Thanks guys. The Tokai started out as a fretted but I had the frets taken out in the late 80s. Never really used it after that until I started playing in jazz in 2001. Set of halfwounds onit and a setup and it is just great now. gerryk
Hi BassBus, That's a great collection of basses - I thought I had a lot of basses! How do you find the NS EUB? I nearly went for one, but ended up getting Messenger EUB (http://www.messengerbass.com/) from a luthier in the US. Beautiful instrument, but no real substitute for an acoustic upright. Thanks for the bump by the way. Gerryk.

Cheers, D

Cheers, D[/quote] It is a cheap bass, cost me £125 late 80s/early 90s and has a plywood body. Having said that it has a cracking sound and a lovely neck on it. Through a SansAmp BDDI I can get a very passable Geddy Lee sound. I'm sure you could pick one up on Ebay for next to nothing if you ever see one. Hasn't been played alot since 1990. My bandmates always said it had the sound of a rubber band and the pickup selector seems bizarely to have been mounted backwards. Just recently purchased an Ibanez SR300, much lighter, wider range of sounds, easier/faster to play and more resonant sound. Now playing back through a 35W Electric Bass Amp by Gear4music. How does yours compare to your other basses, the Yamahas, Washburn and Hohner? Cheers, Dan
BassBus
Much as I enjoy playing it I do feel the quality of the Yamaha when I go to that. The Washburn has now moved on and I never compared the two of them. Nowadays I prefer the sound from a humbucker so it doesn't get played that much, specially as I have a Status Series 2000. Now nothing compares to that.
