solo4652
Hi, Took delivery of my "new" Stingray today. It was made in February 2000 and remained hanging up in the Bass World shop in Kent until Friday, when I bought it. Pearl Lavender body, and rosewood fingerboard. However, when I unpacked it - SHOCK - no frets! Not even lines. Gulp. I emailed the serial number to Musicman and they confirmed the manufacture date. They also said that "It's quite possible this is the only one like this (Fretless, Pearl Lavender, Rosewood) we ever made". The colour was discontinued in 2002. So, possibly a unique, unused bass that's already 9 years old! Off to the instrument Tech. today for a set-up. doctor_of_the_bass
Lavverly!!! I just became a dad this week to a new StingRay fretless, am hoping to get some pix sorted once it stops raining! Bassist mag reviewed a fretted version (with piezo bridge) some years ago in the same finish - one of my mates bought it - its a beautiful colour - always wanted a JD in that shade! martthebass
Oh this is just torment to a guy who's desperate to trade his Sandberg 5 for a fretless Ray. Lurvvely bass tho.
dub_junkie
outstanding looking bass! I've never seen a fretless in this colour before and only ever a handful for sale used in pearl lavender including this one. I managed to get my 5 string with a maple board and matching headstock after a couple of years looking at ebay and the ebmm boards.

You can't be far from me, and I think you're a bit of a Stingray fan, aren't you? You're more than welcome to come round and have a go on "Lilly" and a cuppa too. PM me for my address and phone number if you want. Steve
