Higgie
Impressive stuff, I admire the technique and how far people are willing to take it, but not my cup of tea really. I'd prefer him to be hittin up some Jamerson grooves, and then I'd decide how good he really is a BASS player
biro
italians up here! his name is gianni serino, and he's from genoa. not my cup of tea, as well, yet we have to give the devil's his due. astonishing technique.
urb
His technique is ridiculous - but where's the music? I saw this guy demoing Epifani amps at the Messe last year and he had the most horrible, clacky tone, that did nothing to really show off the virtues of the Epi sound - Nick Epifani didn't book him again this year M
The Bass Doc
Can't help but admire his expertise but I have a problem with technique at this level - imagine if you were other than the bass player in your band, would you really want this guy to join it? mcgraham
Gotta agree, tone is quite poor. I spotted his videos a few years ago, and turned them off very quickly because of how manky/clanky it sounded. Although, lets be fair and acknowledge that some of us are judging his tone based on YouTube videos (except people like Mike who have witnessed his playing first hand). I think guys like this are great. They show you what is possible and help to remove preconceptions about what can or cannot be done on an instrument. Whether or not you like what he's producing musically, the technique is still sound. I think that at times it could be cleaner, and certainly more tasteful, but as an exercise it demonstrates his prowess and his stamina. More power to him I say! Oscar South
Terrible bass-chord voicings too, play something other than block 137 voicings please. Check out this guy http://www.youtube.com/user/havic5, incredible and musical bassist, exceptional technique and he has some great instructional videos up. biro
well; I've made show-off videos too. But I like to add some meaning to them, as I don't want to be mistaken: I'm not that exhibitionist! e.g. this vid: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Df1ljlMXpLc I filmed myself doing crazy and far from being musical things because I had entered the guitar rig contest, and therefore I had to do everything I could in order to demonstrate the software capabilities. And this implied doing lotsa things I personally dislike, although I've tried in any way to do something funny and interesting, at least sound-wise. as far as music is concerned, I'm not any longer in a have-you-seen-that-guy-triple-plucking-on-youtube state of mind. KERMITNT
i didnt say that this guy sound is something exeptional just metioning some techniques intresting that i didnt see again. Thats all is not my cup of tea either but as much as you see the better. Sometime is better to understand the difference from a myth and a true talent. Thats why is music some they like some not.
