i love all black bases, specially the headstock being painted, dont like basses with a really long horn cause i like to sling my bass low.

probably using it for rock stuff over anything else.
It appears you have been grossly misinformed about the sound of epi t-birds.

You should try one for yourself before repeating such nonsense.
I have an Epiphone Thunderbird and in some ways i actually prefer its sound to my USA Fender Jazz. I couldnt recommend the bass anymore highly, ofcourse the neckdiove and its' shear weight is something to think about, but i believe these are only minor set backs. IT SOUNDS FANTASTIC!

aye, definitely the yamaha bb414 in black, fantastic bass.. also, an ibanez soundgear maybe? i think you can get them for that sort of price

oh and +1 for the Epi T-bird, I have one and i love it - the neck dive is easily sorted by gettin urself a big grippy strap or moving the strap button down behind the neck
the bass i'd be replacing would be a squier precision special, they do an all black precision special with chrome scratchplate, but i've gone off my squier
Furry muff! My Status Retroactive J is all black, but it was a wee bit more than £250....
Yamaha BB614 (the active version) if you look hard enough at that momey... Very cool looking bass as well!
How does the active circuit rate in the BBs? I would of thought with it being a budget bass that it would be a bit rubbish and that the passive 414 would of been better?.. just wondering

Ha! that's exactly what I did to my "sno-white" epi t-bird. It certainly cures the next dive.

I don't notice any weight issues - mine doesn't seem any heavier than any of my fenders once I moved the strap button.

My sold all black Precision Lyte may have done it ... mine you the gold hardware and goldfleck finish may not have been right ....
They come up on Ebay all the time for about £275 or so.
Very light, Very active 80's Ibanez sounding (ie not at all a Precision) Very fast neck.

I think your best bet would be among:

- Yamaha BB414 (For the money maybe the best bass, but I hate that switch instead of another volume)
- OLP (I was quite impressed with the one I played, it was the new ones BTW)
- Ibanez GSR200 (For the money another great bass)

I think I've narrowed it a bit for you.
