Shockwave
Hey guys. Just bought this off the 'bay. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...em=260428089428 Its a early 80's Hamer USA Blitz bass. With a set neck, i got a very good price on it! It has patent applied for Dimazios. So obviously very very early ones! Anyway this post is a pre-emptive feeler just in case i dont get on with it! I had said to myself to never buy a pointy bass again but i just couldnt help it when i saw the Zebra finish! If i sold it on i will sell it for the price i paid of 200 picked up! More pics when i recieve it! Rick Savage played one in the Def leppard video "Foolin" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FaSD_TOSQjQ To keep you going with this thread here are some pictures of other Blitz basses! steve-soar
That's fantastic, great price, I'd love one, I'd play it upside down (lefty), only problem would be the controls.

RhysP
There was some discussion about that bass on the Hamer forum a month or so ago. Hamers records show that bass to have left the factory as plain black, so the zebra finish was done outside the factory. The Dimarzios aren't particularly old - they were made with the smooth black covers specifically for the Blitz basses. I absolutely love Hamer guitars - IMO they're the best you can get. I've got a couple of beautiful Hamer guitars & I used to have a 12 string bass too. (Hamer serial numbers are pretty easy to date - let me know if you want to know when it was built). MacDaddy
well I couldn't afford it, as in 5 weeks time I will be jobless and homeless, but I've always loved Hamer's since buying a Chaparral guitar in the early 90's, but it is now mine It's also a good job I haven't quite got over the 80's Gigged her last night. Lovely sound, plenty of low end, lots of adjustment to technique for finger style though.
