Mrs Tinman
Please don't shout at me if this is a pants 'offer' but I have copied this across from the HotUKDeals forum where someone has said about the Stagg BC300 (black) bundle: 'Thats a very nice unpretentious looking bass IMO. Good price for the spec and bundle.' http://www.normans.co.uk/c-208-bass.aspx

Dunno what they play like, though. If they're light weight and the necks are decent, I reckon they could be real bargain. Can't justify it myself, sadly. Anyone played one? <EDIT> These don't get a lot of love on the Harmony Central User reviews: http://reviews.harmony-central.com/reviews...agg/B300BK/10/1 </EDIT> Edited June 15, 2009 by Earbrass
Krysbass
I wanted to see if I could do fretless, so I bought a Stagg BC300 fretless, natural wood finish about 3 years ago. For the price I paid (£99) I honestly can't complain, but after I'd owned it for a while I made a few improvements. The first thing I did was to shield the electronics cavity with conductive paint - this reduced the background noise, so it was well worth the effort. Then I replaced the stock pickups with a DiMarzio P/J set, and this brought a massive improvement in the tone. I've tweaked a few other things too, as the bass needed setting up, but now I'm happy with the result and would gig it if the need arose. In standard form, the BC300 is probably worth a look, and upgrading the pickups later is easy. But I've heard people say that quality is variable, so maybe I just got one of the better ones? EskimoBassist
I started with one of these, great memories, nice post! I did quickly swap it out for an Epiphone Thunderbird, however it wasn't bad to play, sounded okay and for that price it was a gerat starter bass. I was disuaded by the shopkeep to buy the BC300 over a Squire Jazz, I don't know if I have him tot hank, but even so at that price it was worth every penny. ash_sak
I've played one of these, i think, in college. Twos really quite nice especially for strumming chords.
