EBS_freak
who's would it be? I don't know -maybe Macca's Hofner? Marcus' jazz? Jaco's BOD? Pino's P (or equally his fretted Ray...!) It doesn't even have to be as famous as that... maybe a bass that was used to record a particular song?
cetera
Gene Simmons 1977 custom made Spector bass. Shown here in it's original guise (with DiMarzio Model 1 pickup): and here after being covered in studs and the DiMarzio replaced with EMG 'P' pickups:

Shockwave
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B_sKnNmO7vk...feature=related Remy Beauchamp's fretless he used in the death metal band Quo Vadis. I still havent worked out what that fretless is or if they make a 5 string version, if anyone can help see the video at 40ish seconds for a close up..... of course mine would have to be the right way up Heres a far better quality video to hear how great a fretless can sound in a death metal band. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W5ciJcksiEU from 59 seconds onwards. Remys playing and sound gave me the idea to use a fretless in extreme genres and loving every minute of it.... now if only the pedulla can get that lovely sound as well, damn barts! Huge Hands
Maccas Ric, Mystery Tour era.
Come to your own conclusions about me after this statement, but it was after watching Macca with that bass in the "I am the Walrus" part of the film that got me to take up bass as a wide eyed 14 year old. I thought he looked so cool, even though I've never really fancied Rickys myself, and much cooler than Ringo (I played drums at the time).... Thank you Sir Paul. I have never managed to look that cool, but enjoy playing the bass. (P.S. As I have said before, my starting to play bass was equally to do with watching an old video of Russell Jackson playing with BB King). EDIT: As for classic basses, Jamerson's Funk Machine for me too. Marky L
+1 to JJ's black n maple P bass. Also the P bass Algy Ward used to record Machine Gun Etiquette with The Damned. For history's sake, then Sid's white P bass and also DeeDee Ramone's white P from the first couple of albums.
LukeFRC
I managed to get it earlier this year- Squier JV '57RI P bass, with the large fender logo. only thing i ever really wanted. I also wanted a warwick and now have one too, though not blown away with that.... for famous basses.... the one on the cover of londons calling? not much good to play anymore!
