You will need either a morticing machine or a router, you can get these quite cheap then you will need to mark accurately where you want the hole and clamp the body down well on a sturdy bench, its not that hard just go easy, and make sure you get a decent router bit.Look up routing on google.
Just wondering if it was possible and if there is any guides around. I would imagine getting something really pointy and stabbing away at the space under the P PUP
What exactly do you want to do? Add a Jazz pickup to the bridge of a Precision (relatively easy) or change a precision into a Jazz (rather more involved) or something else in between?

Well i havnt really seen many unfinished P/J bodies for sale on eBay and was thinking of have the P look with the extra J PUP (the pickguards look) all i would do is buy the P body and work some magic.

It's easy in principle - but be careful of chipping the paintwork on finished bodies... oh... and get it straight.

A router is the easiest way to get a good result although you can do it with drills and chisels. You just need to take your time and work very carefully. Bear in mind if you want to use a router safely, you'll need to use it with a jig (a bit of plywood with a hole the same shape as the one you need to cut), so you'll need a jig saw or a fret saw to cut that out too. Even with cheap tools it's still a fair wedge if you only intend to do it once.

imho...changing a P to a P/J is not worth the effort sonically
a better bet is J/J...but then why reinvent the wheel??

btw henry
