Clarky
Having sold 'Sid', a CIJ 70RI Precision, to jonthebass, a few months back I immediately regretted it .... and so have recreated him in most respects via a Japanese import from Ishibashi. Has beefy Stealth Area 51 p/u's from Wizard and only difference from original is I have installed a Gotoh bridge, rather than a Badass. Got it back from guitar technician (Dave Mason of Guitar Tree in Putney) this afternoon, beautifully set up with TI Flats. Coincides with arrival today of my Shuker JJ Burnel (see separate Gear Porn thread; link in my signature below) and I am now in P-bass heaven With the name 'Sid' snaffled, guess I better call the new boy 'Dee Dee' to go with 'JJ'! Noisyjon
Very nice Clarky! Do you like the Wizard A51 Stealth pickup? I'm loving the one in Sid. Cheers, JTB
Clarky
Only had the briefest of try-outs of the bass with the Area 51 p/u installed. TBH, to my half-deaf ears it sounds pretty similar to a SD Quarter Pounder ... but it does look way cooler! And blimey the magnets in it are strong - when I was playing around with the action on first installing it the strings kept sticking to it! Clarky
is it difficulty to inport from japan
No, but its complicated as prices are in Yen and you have to watch exchange rates. Plus you pay close to 20% import duty on the bass. Here is Ishibashi's website http://www.ishibashi.co.jp/u_box/e/ Frankly, if you aren't in a hurry to buy I would just wait for one to come up on BassChat or eBay as it will be easier and, in many cases, cheaper
