BarnacleBob Posted June 20, 2009 Posted June 20, 2009 Not to be confused with a brand new 65 Pre-CBS Precision. BB Quote

OldGit Posted June 20, 2009 Posted June 20, 2009 Never seen a sunburst like that before - lots of "hide the ply" black around the edges ... Quote
GreeneKing Posted June 20, 2009 Author Posted June 20, 2009 Yep the sunburst just doesn't look authentic to me either. Quote

On the one hand, just had a look at my old P and it's similarly black-edged. On the other hand, those colour transitions on this 65 are a bit 'abrupt'. And the orange is a bit muted making the yellow area stand out. And the yellow doesn't quite follow the edge curve of the guitar as it sweeps round into the upper horn - front and back - and ends a bit early... Need some higher res images - so difficult to say without getting your mitts on it. Edited June 22, 2009 by skankdelvar Quote
Bassassin Posted June 21, 2009 Posted June 21, 2009 Hide-the-ply bursts will usually black right over the contours as well as the edges. That said, something don't look right about this. Maybe the burst's a refin? Jon. Quote
