The jazz has obviously been (badly) "reliced". Why oh why do people do that? Even with lots of natural wear the initial "relicing" attempt will be obvious. Is it just me?

He's not passing it off as a "real" vintage. As to why people do this, it is a matter of personal taste as evidenced by the many threads on BC about this!

PS, what a collection! You've spent nearly as much on basses as I have on beer over the years

Didn't mean to imply any funny business on the seller's part. I suppose the relic treatment game is a bit like plastic surgery, fine if the end result is OK, but with the possibility of a disastrous outcome.
