[quote name='JPJ' post='544631' date='Jul 19 2009, 11:35 AM']Here's my Overwater beauty.

She's become my main gigging bass and I think this is everything I've ever wanted in a J bass format.

I've got one of these - I'll post some pics soon, but mine is the following spec:
Body: Tulipwood with a Quilted Maple top (Blue)
Neck: Curly Maple with Maple binding.
Hardware: Hipshot Bridge & Tuners
Electrics: John East Preamp & OW own pickups.

I love it - would be gutted if I ever had to sell it....

Cheers,
iamthewalrus

Hi, thought I would post Black Beauty on this thread. I indulged myself for my 60th and Chris did a good job from my e-mails and phone description of what I wanted, especially so as I was working in Azerbaijan at the time. I had been playing (infrequently) a NT Thumb 4 fretted from new since 1990 and I though this might be a string too far, it was :) !!! 6 Months later I convinced myself I needed a fretted 35"so I bought a Spector Euro 5LX to assist me in my search for the truth, that worked

Lovely. One of the nicest Overwaters ever.

Thanks! I'm really pleased with it - I think the aesthetic element of Chris' work is sometimes overlooked (probably not in this thread!) The build quality is absolutely outstanding, as it the choice of timbers, carving, finishing etc. The bass plays beautifully too - the easiest six I've ever played - sculpted neck and lovely low action. I find the tone very even across the strings - clean and clear with a big fundamental - versatile but nothing extreme or particularly characteristic in the sound (possibly why a lot of session players use Overwaters).

Come on show us some proper pictures of this stunning bass!

IMO this is probably the nicest looking Overwater that I don't own ;-)

That used to be mine! It's a stunner - couldn't quite work out why I couldn't get on with it until Steve informed me it's a 36" scale

But that's the great thing about those Overwater basses.

I went to almost straight to mine from playing a Burns short scale bass (29½"), and I didn't spot the extra long scale until I bought my first set of replacement 34" strings for them and wondered why the silks extended past the nut!
