mike f Posted March 10 Posted March 10 (edited) @patrikmarky find one and play it. Be patient, necks can vary but you already know how good Warwicks are. There will be one out there for you. Good hunting! Edited March 11 by mike f 2 Quote
Machines Posted March 13 Posted March 13 2020 GPS Corvette $$. Amazingly versatile, plays like butter. Haven't been able to find many others with this finish, but doesn't appear to be a Special Edition. 5 Quote
Kev Posted March 13 Posted March 13 Ocean Blue is a lovely finish, I think its the flame that's really setting it off here though! 1 Quote

The only other one I found was on a review by Mr @Dood a few years ago, but it is a different bass. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3lHkkAx9KIM 1 Quote

I've had a few top end masterbuilt Warwicks over the years and the LXs are really just as good. ... out of interest what was written on the back of the headstock (saw the eBay thread thing)? Is the serial number still visible etc? And is this Broadneck spacing at all please? Quote

Who makes them? Sorry for the very late reply I’ve only just seen this. The came with the bass I believe there made by DR Quote
Jack Posted Wednesday at 11:16 Posted Wednesday at 11:16 Are we allowed questions in here or just for showing? If it's allowed then I have a '91 thumb with the brass frets. Will stainless steel rounds 'hurt' it? Conflicting statements online about whether brass frets are longer lasting or not vs others. Thanks! I have tried to post an image, but it seems nothing quite sneaks under the upload limit and the imgur link won't do anything. Downer. Quote
mike f Posted Wednesday at 12:08 Posted Wednesday at 12:08 @Jack steel strings will be fine. You should expect some wear on your frets over the years and they can be redressed by a luthier. Bottom line is; do they sound good to you? If so, play on! 1 Quote

I've used SS rounds on my '98 ThumbNT for years, and played regularly with the bass. Those Warwick bell brass frets are very hardy 👍🏼 I like them so much I've recently had them fitted on my Vigier fretless to fretted conversion featured here: https://www.basschat.co.uk/topic/509739-vigier-passion-ii-fretless-to-fretted/ Edited Saturday at 18:12 by BassTool Pic added 2 Quote

I like the Status rounds on more aggressive basses, just making sure. And I deleted some attachments to show this. Edited Saturday at 18:20 by Jack 2 Quote
NickA Posted yesterday at 07:11 Posted yesterday at 07:11 I think they're bronze not brass ( copper + tin not copper + zinc) and really quite tough. Lots of people use stainless rounds with their Warwicks. Though they are usually quite bright for an already bright sounding bass. My dolphin has stainless frets which are super hard, and I've those nyxl (nickle?) strings on it ...so I can't really speak from experience. 1 Quote
BassTool Posted 14 hours ago Posted 14 hours ago @NickA this was the spec sheet for the ones I bought direct from Warwick.. 1 Quote
mike f Posted 14 hours ago Posted 14 hours ago @Jack have you tried DR Hi-Beams? I’ve got them on my Thumb and would recommend them. Quote
NickA Posted 10 hours ago Posted 10 hours ago 4 hours ago, mike f said: DR Hi-Beams? On my other fretted bass. Like NYXLs but a bit brighter and slightly lower tension. Last well too. Nowhere near as bright as new rotosound or elite stainless... but those aren't bright for long. Quote
NickA Posted 9 hours ago Posted 9 hours ago 4 hours ago, BassTool said: spec sheet Seems some confusion about the alloy. Warwick ( in translation ) say brass but everyone else says they are "bell bronze"... including in this Warwick / framus video: https://youtu.be/sbzmWEDXX3s?feature=shared But they're all copper alloys with various amounts of zinc, tin, aluminium phosphorus etc etc. Normal brass would be very soft and it tends to chip easily, so if the frets really were standard brass I'd worry about stainless strings. But I'll bet they're not! Quote
