BigRedX
One brand of bass I've never owned... and now I've got Warwick GAS!! Which one would you recommend for beefy, bouncy rocky, hard-playing with a picky, hefty loudy soundy in a three-piece bandy?
My MiK Star Bass works fantastically in the context of Guitar, Bass Drums and Vocals. It helps to have some valves somewhere in the signal path though. Kev
Warwick Thumb BO in da house Not sure if she will be staying with me as it was only taken as a partial trade to make a deal happen, but we will see
Annoying Twit
In theory my Rockbass Streamer Standard should be not needed any more. But, I find myself playing it often, particularly now that I've noticed that there's something about the sound which means that it plays quite well with my new Zoom B1xon multi-effects pedal. strtdv
I'm new to bass, picked this up 2 weeks ago on Gumtree for a song (2004 Thumb 5 Bolt On): Love the grain on the ovankol body. Here it is in the "study" with the knobs off as it was getting a good clean and a wax at the time:
goblin
Been pretty tied up recently, picked this beast up about a month ago. 2013 Streamer Stage 1, broad neck thru neck. Weighs quite a bit, so my shoulder will dictate whether or not it stays. Kev
Try carrying it in that case through the rail network Seriously though, the bass is great on a good wide strap, balances really well I found Wish I could have kept it!
goblin
Haha, safe to say, it's the only time I've ever had to catch my breath after going up a flight a stairs with a bass in a flight case! The balance it beautiful though, I've got a Neotech Mega for it, and going to see how I get on with it. I've also had recessed straplocks put on it, which just moves the neck ever so slightly towards me, which helps a lot! It's just a matter of getting used to it, I've noticed for a while I've had a fairly knotty back, so it's probably taken a bit of a shock having so much weight added! I've got a friend who's an expert in that side of the body though, so he's offered to 'fix me', and then I'll see how I get on! Sounds mega though! Marillionred
I almost bought that Thumb, as the seller had it on Gumtree way too cheap. Seller realised and withdrew it from sale :-( I assume he saw the error of his ways and upped the price. Glad you still got a bargain though :-) Not bitter - I ended up with a Lolphin SN5 TCS instead :-) :-) Are you going to swap that bone nut for a brass one? Dazed
No wonder you've offloaded that P bass. Split coil and a twin Jazz! Would like to hear that sometime.
Kev
Its a great sound, nothing like a Thumb tone but, other than shape, it has nothing whatsoever in common with a Thumb BO! Lightweight and lovely to play. Need to replace the horrible plastic just a nut II (what were Warwick thinking with that design?!) and get some Prosteels on her. I'll get some decent photos up soon
