The first Stage II that I ever owned, now for sale at Bass Direct. How can I be sure... take a look at the rear of the bass. :)

:D

Don't look for anything personal to me, just look at the rear of the bass in general.

An old pic of mine.

Showing the neck reveal. The bass was originally natural wax and refinished 15 years (or poss more) ago. The neck is fully sealed/lacquered but not solid black like the rest of the bass. You'd not know it wasn't a factory finish (really that good) other than factory finished basses don't have that neck reveal, they are solid black as it is an easier/cheaper job. ;)

Well, that shouldn't have took me more than one guess to get! I think I am used to seeing the new Streamers with the coloured oil finish that is now only applied to the body wings so this looked normal until it twigged haha!

Looks a nice refin! It wouldn't appear the finish has had much of an impact on tone; based on the Bass Direct video it sounds pretty much identical to my '91 SSII :)

That particular bass had a very tight, punchy tone much of it down to the density of the body timbers and though it's hard to quantify (no recorded evidence), the bass did sound a nadge brighter/tighter after the high polish finish, though I'd imagine only me and Dave Wilson (who refinished it and had this bass on loan for a few years) would have been able to tell.

My Thumb 5 NT- The grain on it seems to pop out more in worse lighting. Which I don't know if I find is a good thing or not. Either way, it sounds exactly like a Thumb bass should!

My Infinity Custom Shop is back from the workshop, completely restored (apart from I'm missing a machinehead cover if anyone has one spare).

I can't seem to get any nice photos of it but here it is.

Thanks! I just had a full re-fret and now the board looks lovely. The bass has some very small chips in the finish but other than that, it looks stunning. My photography doesn't do it justice.

On another note, (and I thought I'd as in here as all Warwick owners).
I have lost one of the round covers that fit onto the machineheads.. The disk in the following picture with the 'W' on it. Does anyone by any small chance have one spare? As I said, apologies for asking in here but it's a thread full of Warwick owners!

Gorgeous bass, mate.

I don't have one I'm afraid, but £16 shipped from thomann isn't too bad, at least you will have other tuner spares there too :)

No worries. Luckily the tech who lost it ordered me a new one so will be sorted this week. :)

A friend of mine has asked me to do a setup on a rock bass that he got on Ebay. I only have imperial allen keys for my own basses so don't have the right size. Can you tell me what size I need for the truss rod and the saddle.
Cheers

I believe the saddle is 1.5mm allen key and the truss is 5mm (http://shop.warwick.de/?&c=35352310036&lang=en&smk=1&modul=shop&site=article_details&article_id=D0577426001322750283A5641&article_category=&nm=)...

I may be wrong but I am pretty sire that is correct. I am at work so can't double check. This is also based on my German made Warwicks so I expect it to be the same for Rockbass.

My newly acquired SSII. I've wanted a Stage II for years but they always seemed to be expensive & unattainable for some reason. Thank the lord for trades!

One is rare, the other less so, but they both growl beautifully. Just replaced the nut on the 4 string with a brass just-a-nut III and the results are great!

Love Warwicks, they've got real character and are great for funk with drive. The fretless sounds amazing!

I like stage 2 streamers, I really like them. I've considered getting one often.

Are they really just a jazz bass, or is there more to them than that?
