We simply have them for a part of the time of their journey through life. Genuine marks are simply evidence of their journey and life experience. Having said all that, due to the views of others, I have considered stripping this down and restoring it. Guest Marcoelwray
@Grangur In this beautiful blue, I find it more sad... I can't really explain why although, and I understand the roadworn concept ... Restore it please !
NickA
Visited the bass gallery in camden this afternoon. Good shop. They had THIS: https://thebassgallery.com/collections/bass/products/warwick-custom-shop-stream-stage-1 Not seen a £3500 second hand warwick in years (they had another streamer for £6500, but it was one of those "someone famous once owned it" jobbies) Both way beyond my budget so didn't dare ask for a go. NB: why does the fact that (eg) Pino Palladino owned it and played it make a bass more valuable - it isn't rarity, as he seems to get through them like tissue paper, and surely he only sells them on when they're knackered!
Lfalex v1.1
That's nice. But not £3.5k nice...
Guest Marcoelwray
Curiously, I just don't like it. It looks like fancy Zebrano top, makes me think to Ibanez.... The maple neck is too contrasted... The overall design is just awkward. IMHO.
Jimothey
I dont think that's Zebrano it looks more like Macassar Ebony to me and I really like the Maple fretboard contrasting with the body, I much prefer that pairing than a light wood body with a darkwood fretboard........ But agree there are nicer streamers about for that kind of money 😀 Edited January 30, 2019 by Jimothey
Risk101
Did you look at the back of the bass?? Very strange!! Also it weighs just over 12lbs - ouch ! Yes, Grangur, would love to see your refinishing skills applied to the blue corvette - get in the shed !! 😜

That's just my tastes after all
NickA
No, I cannot explain £3500. I told the man in the shop that I'd been thinking of buying a 5-string streamer, but that the owner wanted £1650 which seemed a bit high .. to which he replied, "hmm £1200 would be more reasonable ..." whilst this beastie was hung on the wall behind him :¬) Ebony topped basses though: rare things. I've only ever seen (in photos) one Wal and one Alembic. Wenge neck with a maple fingerboard is odd, seems all back to front!

It's very lovely but rather expensive. And here's another £3500 second-hand Warwick: http://andybaxterbass.com/details.php?id=1443 (a 1986 Thumb 5) - I can live with much less slanty pickups, a 2-piece bridge, and broken battery box lid for less than half the price. You just point the problem I didn't even saw! It tends to give a more modern aspect Which is not really, to my eyes, an improvement.

It's a huge slab of an instrument whereas I always think of Streamers as being quite svelte. Might sound fantastic of course ....

Fionn
Streamer Pro M (1998). For someone who loves both Streamers and Stingrays, this feels like the perfect bass. It’s possibly my all-time favourite. The first of them had wenge necks and only one preamp, which were soon replaced by the ovangkol/ twin preamp models. The controls on this are stacked Bass/ Treble, Pickup Blend, and Volume (with push/ pull Passive Switch). When in passive mode, tone is controlled via the pickup blend. The tonal range of the Pro M is deceptively broad. It’s very versatile, given how closely the twin J pickups sit together within that single housing. There’s a hum-cancelling dummy coil between the pickups too, so it’s very clean sounding when on one pickup or the other. This bass is the very definition of ‘punchy’ 🙂 Edited February 5, 2019 by Fionn

That bass originally belonged to Bill, bassist of Rag'n'Bone Man I believe, sounds nice but daft weight. It would have cost over double that new in 2015 with those options, easily (High Polish, Macasser ebony top, maple board, nordstrand pickups, matching headstock) although he may have benefitted from artist pricing I guess.
