flip Posted June 26, 2009 Posted June 26, 2009 I love that green jazz, Andriano is one of my favourite players too. He only seems to play precisions now though! I'm definitely liking the look of the Sunburst Geddy! Quote

He was back to the Jazz on the last tour. Quote

Who thought that painting a guitar / bass the same colours as the insides of a cigarette would look good? Edited June 26, 2009 by Kongo Quote
Buzz Posted June 26, 2009 Posted June 26, 2009 Erugh, sunburst. Any other colour would have been nicer imo, apart from tobacco burst. Quote

spongebob Posted June 28, 2009 Posted June 28, 2009 Anybody know where the sunburst picture came from? I've looked on the Fender site, and can't find anything out about it! Incidentally, I've just picked up a black one - and even as a dedicated Ric man - it really is a fantastic bass!! Quote
Chris2112 Posted June 28, 2009 Posted June 28, 2009 Looks like any other jazz bass now, doesn't it! Quote
waynepunkdude Posted June 28, 2009 Posted June 28, 2009 My God that is an abomination. Strip it down paint it bright orange/green then you have a bass a 'new' colour. Quote
stingrayfan Posted June 28, 2009 Posted June 28, 2009 (edited) Wow, sunburst. Breaking the mould. Edited June 28, 2009 by stingrayfan Quote

acidbass Posted June 28, 2009 Posted June 28, 2009 Most of the time, sunburst basses are made with a slightly better quality of wood than ones with solid finishes though. Due to the see-through nature of the finish, they can't afford to have a piece of shoddy wood underneath. Buy one and get it refinished maybe? The neck and pickups are worth the price alone really, much better than any MIA Fender I've tried. Also, it's the same colour scheme as the '73 bass Barry Devlin used in Horslips, incidentally, it also has a parrot attached to it! Quote
Musicman20 Posted June 28, 2009 Author Posted June 28, 2009 Im a fan of tradtional bass colours. I love sunburst. If I get a Geddy the Burst will be the one I go for. Quote
spongebob Posted June 28, 2009 Posted June 28, 2009 But where do we get it from.......and when!!!!!! Quote
fatgoogle Posted June 28, 2009 Posted June 28, 2009 I like it would prefer a plain maple neck but i still like it. Quote

Black blocks on maple dont look right to me, MOP on rosewood just look sooooooooooo right Quote
KevB Posted June 29, 2009 Posted June 29, 2009 I'd go for the rosewood with MoP inlays. If you're going to do a trad retro look might as well do it properly. Black blocks on naked maple just look a bit naff. They aren't even inlays on the GL sig models, just painted on. Quote
Musicman20 Posted June 29, 2009 Author Posted June 29, 2009 Rosewood just doesnt play as well....IMO....only just though. Quote
