TG Flatline
Hello, I've got an Explorer on the way and would love some advice from any other explorer/thunderbird/silly-shaped bass players who can let me know where I can find a decent strap that is long enough for the job! I'm not quite going to be playing it round my knees but suffice to say it will need a rather long strap, but it's also a rather expensive beast so I want to get a good one to save me the embarassment of crying in front of my band if the strap breaks and my beloved falls to the ground with a crash bang wollop!!! My thanks in advance T
Hamster
These are pretty good and really are long. I'm sure if you buy the 'long' model it'll do but measure first of course. IIRC there is a very similar one made by or branded 'bass collection' - avoid those as they've been known to break. These are the ones - http://www.bassdirect.co.uk/bass_guitar_sp...rt_Strapps.html
yorick
Leathercraft in Liverpool do an extra long one. Got one knocking around if you're interested, i can measure it up for you.

They are fine in the bra position, but can be a bit bungee cord the longer you go... which isn't ideal for the lower slung bass - especially if you are rocking out (which I presume you should be what with having an Explorer!) Finbar
Yeah, +1 on the bungee effect. I have one of those neoprene Comfort Strapps, and used it once before deciding I didn't like what it did when you throw your bass around a bit. As important as a good strap though, I'd say invest in some straplocks if you want to rock, but some people insist you really don't need them. yorick
Just measured the one i've got, and it's 60" at full extension. Three inches wide and double leather thickness with suede one side and leather the other.

TG Flatline
Much appreciated, cheers fellas! Strap locks are a must for me, I'm always ridiculously conscious of it when I don't use them!!
