xilddx Posted June 29, 2009 Posted June 29, 2009 (edited) I'm so delighted!! Saw an ad here on Thursday for bassist wanted, the message was quirky and intriguing enough for me to check out her myspace. I was blown away, she's an extraordinary singer and songwriter. I called the same day, auditioned yesterday and got a lovely email this morning to say I'm in, subject to one rehearsal to make sure I'm not a flake or a psycho. The drummer's brilliant, he was playing one armed due to an accident and he was still knockout! Sorry for all the exclamations, I'm just so thrilled Check her out here http://www.myspace.com/kitrichardsonmusic Edited June 29, 2009 by silddx Quote
Clarky Posted June 29, 2009 Posted June 29, 2009 Many congrats! Had a quick listen on MySpace - very interesting, a little like Portishead funked/speeded up. Nice one. Quote

Sounds interesting stuff. Now you just have to decide whether or not to tell her that she can't spell "Evangelist". Quote
xilddx Posted June 29, 2009 Author Posted June 29, 2009 Thanks Clarky! Pure serendipity too, I so rarely look at the Bassist Wanted and Available section, for some reason I did on Thursday, I clicked that thread and here we are. Bizarre. Haven't auditioned for donkeys years either, but I simply had to go for it. I'm made up! Quote
GreeneKing Posted June 29, 2009 Posted June 29, 2009 Bloody brilliant, here's hoping it all works out for you Quote

bythesea Posted June 29, 2009 Posted June 29, 2009 Excellent - I listened to some of her myspace when the ad was put up and thought it sounded interesting. Should be great! Quote
thisnameistaken Posted June 29, 2009 Posted June 29, 2009 Nice one, that looks like a really cool gig. I don't think I could be in a band with a foxy 'cellist, it just wouldn't work out. Quote
xilddx Posted June 29, 2009 Author Posted June 29, 2009 Cheers bts! I wonder if any other BCers went. Sorry to you if you did. I was the last one in and bumped into the previous bassist as he was leaving. Seemed like a very nice bloke. Quote

harvey1-8 Posted June 29, 2009 Posted June 29, 2009 From the topic header I actually thought you were posting from Everest for a minute there! How silly? Congrats on the audition. I had a look at the myspace as well when the ad was posted last week and decided that the music wasn't quite my cup of tea. The cello player looks quite pretty though. Quote
BigRedX Posted June 29, 2009 Posted June 29, 2009 Congratulations! It's stunning music. If I lived in London rather than Nottingham, I'd would have been up for that like a flash. I trust you'll be keeping us posted of gigs etc? Quote
Clarky Posted June 29, 2009 Posted June 29, 2009 (edited) I also hope you look after your basses better than the last guy! Check out the trashed P-bass on the vid clip Edited June 29, 2009 by Clarky Quote

51m0n Posted June 29, 2009 Posted June 29, 2009 (edited) I like the way you can tell the songs are written on keys first. Well sounds that way to me (probably find they are written on banjo now ) She sounds a bit like Tori Amos I think, which is no bad thing - maybe mad in a different way - it will be great stuff to gig though. She apparently get compared to Kate Bush a lot too. But that's probably because there are so few singers who sing like that. Certainly, I think the gigs will be interesting! I'll post dates when things are confirmed. Can't wait to get stuck in! Quote
soopercrip Posted June 29, 2009 Posted June 29, 2009 Excellent matey Love it when a spur of the moment thing turns into a 'wow, I'm glad I did that' moment. Good luck with it Nigel Practice practice practice.... Andy Quote
