fekalizatorius Posted June 30, 2009 Posted June 30, 2009 Hey, I stumbled upon this http://i293.photobucket.com/albums/mm49/li...as/DSC00541.jpg a few minutes ago. It's a homemade 1x12" cab with a switchable tweeter. 150w @ 8ohms. I wanted to ask you if I should take it. It's in my area, costs 75eu. I was thinking of a 2x10" or 1x15", but I'm now thinking about this 1x12" Cheers, Fek. Quote
Stylon Pilson Posted June 30, 2009 Posted June 30, 2009 I personally wouldn't, but if you can spare the €75 then why not give it a go? S.P. Quote
chris_b Posted June 30, 2009 Posted June 30, 2009 I personally wouldn't buy someone els's home made gear. You may feel differently though. Quote
alexclaber Posted June 30, 2009 Posted June 30, 2009 Ask them what driver it contains and what it's tuned to. If they can answer that and the driver is half-decent then it's probably a good deal. What you want to avoid is anything with a cheap PA driver, a hi-fi driver or a car subwoofer, all of which are unsuitable for bass guitar. Alex Quote
steve-soar Posted June 30, 2009 Posted June 30, 2009 Ask them if there is a socket for an extension pole on the bottom of the cab. Quote
stevie Posted June 30, 2009 Posted June 30, 2009 (edited) Don't even think of it - it would be money down the drain! Plastic handle, plastic corners, piezo tweeter. It's a cheap and cheerful home-made confection that should be on Freecycle. The single 3-inch port will fart when you play low-E. And it's filthy, which speaks volumes about its owner. I'll bet you the cabinet is made of chipboard and there's an old, cheap, pressed steel Eminence of Chinese driver inside. Avoid it like the plague and wait for something half-decent to come along. Bill Fitzmaurice Posted June 30, 2009 Posted June 30, 2009 Everything about that cabs says that whoever built it knows next to nothing about how to design a speaker. Pass. Quote
skankdelvar Posted June 30, 2009 Posted June 30, 2009 Nasty cab; depending on mfr / type the speaker itself may be worth salvaging. But probably not. Quote
fekalizatorius Posted June 30, 2009 Author Posted June 30, 2009 Thanks guys I knew right off the bat, that I should avoid it, but thought that maybe you guys would know beter I'll stick to saving for the 2x10" Cheers, Fek. Quote
