i jam with some friends who play techno and breakbeat stuff and some of the tunes are based around flattened fifths (??)...(AD#...DG#...etc)

and it always confuses me as to what scales to mooch around in.

i'm no theory expert, so what kind of scales would you use to include those notes ?

any advice would be appreciated.

It depends.

But Lydian or Locrian for modes of hte major scale. The Diminshed scales. Altered scale. A multitude of pentatonic scales.

It really does depend on a few things.

Try Locrian and Lydian flat-seven scales, obviously depending on the quality of the chords they're playing, but they're two modes that have that interval. Think "Diminished" lol
