dirtystatic Posted September 5, 2007 Posted September 5, 2007 Recently bought a Sansamp PBDI and with that Ive set up a clean channel, one with a bit of grit and a little volume boost, and another with full on crunch.. so thats worked out nicely for me but now im after a fuzz, i recently parted with a little big muff, wasnt too fond of that.. the nicest sounding one ive come across is the woolly mammoth, not sure its worth handing over £220 for one though.. anyone with a bit more pedal experience be able to suggest an alternative? cheers guys Quote
Motocross_nick Posted September 5, 2007 Posted September 5, 2007 a nice fuzz ive found is the boss FZ5. very very ott fuzz, which i for one like. good example of it could be on did my time by korn, or falling away from me by korn (though fieldys playing doesnt give it much justice ) Hope this helps! Basszilla Posted September 6, 2007 Posted September 6, 2007 (edited) In short : Yes. It's sometimes referred to as a cheap man's EDIT : fuzz factory (lol) "Japanese manufacturer Zoom released a self-oscillating/feedback loop-derived fuzz design called the Ultra-Fuzz, which some have likened to be a 'poor-mans' Fuzz Factory" Edited September 6, 2007 by Basszilla Quote
dirtystatic Posted September 6, 2007 Author Posted September 6, 2007 cheers for all the replies, im gonna make every effort to check these pedals out. especially the tone bender, i heard some good things about that but when i looked into them i wasnt sure which model was which. im a justin chancellor fan and i heard he used the tonebender, but there was a bass specific model on there.. left me a little confused... http://www.macaris.co.uk/product_range.asp...=27&catID=5 been enquiring about a TF huckleberry, any of you guys care to comment on them? and btw, bass is passive Quote
Basszilla Posted September 6, 2007 Posted September 6, 2007 I know TaySte digs them to hell and back. I'd be interested myself if this worked with actives. http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=4932 Quote

DHA Posted September 7, 2007 Posted September 7, 2007 Hi, I have a tonebender based design called the "Fuzzy Feeling" which I am think of releasing as a kit, anyone interested in kits? Dave Quote
dirtystatic Posted September 9, 2007 Author Posted September 9, 2007 by kit do you mean individual components for self-assembly? Quote
Higgie Posted September 9, 2007 Posted September 9, 2007 Yup, that's what he means. I've always been interested in buying kits, but I just wouldn't have the time or patience to finish them! One day I'm sure I'll do it though. Quote
dirtystatic Posted September 9, 2007 Author Posted September 9, 2007 if i cant put together a kinder egg toy then ive got no chance piecing together a quality fuzz pedal Quote

dirtystatic Posted September 9, 2007 Author Posted September 9, 2007 I notice youre already selling a fuzz pedal on your site, how does that fair with bass? Quote

It works well with bass and there are few out there already being used as a bass fuzz. Dave Quote
Metal-Mariachi Posted September 13, 2007 Posted September 13, 2007 MI Audio’s GI or Neo Fuzz both sound great with bass and work with passive and active basses. Kev Posted September 14, 2007 Posted September 14, 2007 im very impressed with the zvex woolly mammoth iv just bought, great fuzz Quote
cheddatom Posted September 14, 2007 Posted September 14, 2007 What's it sound like with the active bass? I know people keep saying it's crap with an active so.. just interested. Quote
Kev Posted September 14, 2007 Posted September 14, 2007 if you turn the volume right down on a active bass, such as my musicman sub, and turn the high eq/treble down, it sounds pretty good. but ye with the volume high and the treble turned up it sounds horrible, iv only really used it with my passive, but it can be used with an active in the right circumstances.
