Clarky
Tech 21 now do a "Classic Relic" version of the original SansAmp, complete with battle-scarred, stomped-on-with-hobnail-boots appearance. Now I can understand relic'ed basses - the audience sees you playing what appears to be a vintage instrument - but has an audience ever stared at your pedals? Absolutely ludicrous. Where will it end? Relic'ed plectrums (sorry plectra) and guitar straps, relic'ed cables ..... Oh, and its a cool £275 to buy at Thomann http://www.thomann.de/gb/tech_21_sansamp_classic.htm
bartelby
Means manufacturers don't have to take as much care handling the finished goods. Just sling them about and bump the price... How about Relic'ed strings? Edited July 6, 2009 by bartelby

ahpook
when the market for relic-ed basses established itself, wasn't this the obvious next step ?
Clarky
Perhaps these are aimed at shoe-gazers? Groan
ase_one23
i've always thought that if someone came up with relic'd strings (played in i mean of course) i'd probably buy them
Greene-Mann
So when are neutrik releasing their reliced- purposely crackly sounding- leads then?
skankdelvar
Reliced amps? Crackly pots, missing knobs, cut out, catch fire and electrocute the user. It's the way forward.
Greene-Mann
i honestly think a mock amp to put in front of your real amp which can be triggered to combust using a foot pedal would be awsome! How much fun would you have with that? Especially when playing small clubs

I'm sure a few tweaks here and there can sort out the missing knobs and electrocution which you want!

Low End Bee
My bandmates and I have all been through the relic process. We are really 18 but now look like well used and grizzled 45 year olds.

Sound Control used to do reliced guitar strings, you'd open the pack and find there were fingerprints corroded into them.

As for my gear, I take too good of care for it, I may be losing money by not beating the crap out of it.

Al Heeley
Marvellous stuff - good on them for exploiting a lucrative area in the marketplace. No-one being forced to buy oine of these, it just adds fuel to that saying about a fool and his money..... THey look quite cool actually, I may have a go at doing some relic paintwork on my next DIY stompy
Jean-Luc Pickguard
Does this mean that my Boss HM2 heavy metal pedal from the 80s could now be considered cool rather than tatty.
Al Heeley
No, its only really cool if it is really tatty.
