Basses

Fender Duff McKagan Jazz Bass Special - 2007 - Pearl White - Standard with Dunlop Strap Locks Fitted
Fender Aerodyne Jazz Bass - Black - Seymour Duncan STK-J2B Pickup in Bridge Position, Custom Made Jack Plate to allow for right angled jack, TBX Pot fitted.

All basses are in Eb, apart from Aerodyne which is used in Drop Db, i am currently after another bass for Drop Db backup.
All basses are stored in Hiscox Cases, and live i use a Ultracase style guitar rack

I am starting to use Rotosound Nexus 45-105 as i believe Duff will be using them, as they're similar to the Spacers he used in the 80s/90s that he loved! I also use Dunlop .72mm Yellow Picks.

As you can tell i'm a big fan of Duffs and would be great to speak with other fans. I will upload some pictures soon of the items. If there is anything in particular you're interested in seeing just message me.

Thanks again.

PS. I have just uploaded a pic of me and my rig. I am using the White Duff Bass.
Nice basses/rig. How do you find the original Jazz Bass Special compares to the newer reissue?
I like both, but they sound very different. The old one is alot mellower and bassier. The new bridge mixes better with the stock neck pickup better than the new one. The old one is lighter and easier to play all night.

The main difference is the neck and nut width. The original one has a much more familier jazz bass style thin and long feeling, however the Duff Reissue has a more precision bass style. I have no idea why this is so different, i thought Duff had his pretty much stock...

I have been talking with John Cruz at the Fender Custom Shop and he reckons he put a custom shop '62 pickup in the neck position on all of duffs instruments. Thats one mod i will have to try out sooner or later.
nice rig man, i used to be a "1 semi down" kinda guy myself. I've since gone even lower to drop C though lol.
Eb is low enough for me, although we will be doing tunes in standard Db soon. I will have to get another bass for the road me thinks.

I still need a Furman PL-Plus II if you know anyone with one?

Nice. I have an 80s Jazz Bass Special in white - it's the bass I had always wanted as a youngster and now I have it! I'm giving 5-strings a real shot at the moment, so the JBS is sitting in a case. It's a great bass - light, well balanced and makes nice noises. It's the one with the unpainted neck.

I'm a pretty big Duff fan too. I collect old GNR bootlegs, as well as Loaded, Velvet Revolver and Neurotic Outsiders, so I've seen a fair bit of Duff on video over the years. I also went to VR's last gig in Amsterdam. Bliss!

Hey dude,

Nice to hear of another Duff fan. I'm after another 80s one in white, but i'd need to get one with the painted neck like mine. I'd be interested in some pictures of your one, i will do the same. Would be good to compare your old white one with my duff one.

I have just seen Loaded at Download festival, but have seen VR on numerous occasions. I've got a few Bootlegs too.

Do you have any other Duff related gear?

Here's one I have handy.

The Trace cabs have gone, replaced with a Marshall 15" cab (with a different speaker).

I don't have any other Duff gear as such. I do have a GK amp (the 400RBMkIV in the pic) which isn't the same one he has, but is still GK. I suppose it could be argued that his choice of GK influenced me, but I'm not really going for his sound or anything like that.

I think it's well cool that you have Duff's rig!

Dude awesome. I have the 700RB that i know has passed through his hands once before. But the 800RB that he uses for recording is currently not available to buy in the UK, and they said that the 700RB is the "UKs closest alternative" Duff uses the 2001RB head for live use, but this for me is too big. Its a stadium amp, nothing less.

Saying that... I will be getting one soon. Haha.

Love the look of your white JBS. Much whiter than i expected for an older one.

In all fairness, it isn't as white in real life (or real light) as it is in the pic. It is, however, in totally perfect condition and still quite white. It must have spent its life in a case under someone's bed, as it only has two small dings on it. I have a bit of a thing for white guitars, and its whiteness was what made me decide to buy this one.

I love that ibanez too. I'd quite like a seventies frankenbass. White Pbass body with black guard with P+J pickups and a jazz neck with blocks. Fookin Sexy!
