Clarky
If its not a genuine bass, its a bl**dy convincing copy. I would be more worried about the fact that a Chinese retail site is listing a bass that is allegedly in Hollywood, USA.
Tait
the serial number would start S4 is it was 1974, the serial number on this starts

The 5....on the neck plate is right for the period and the pots confirm 1974.

The Bass Doc
I think the change to S nos. came in around 76/77 when it transferred to be part of the headstock decal.

The S/N was on the headstock rather than the neck plate. That dose look a lovely bass.

The queue starts with me. I'm soooo naive at times. So, is it real? Surely not!? I've just emailed the Hollywood place to see what they know. Interestingly, all of their other basses are $4000 or more. So, is this somebody in China simply "borrowing" somebody else's advert hoping somebody will send some money to them? Hmmm? The Bass Doc
If what you get is what's in the pics. it's a snip. But can you trust the seller from this distance? Not sure I could. The Bass Doc
As a result of WoT's investigation I think we can safely assume the Chinese chap is genuine and has bought the bass from the guy in the States for $2,025 only to decide it's not going to replace his 1979 Hondo and is prepared to take a drop in price to $340. Must go now - I've just noticed a pig flying past my office window (3rd floor).

spinynorman
So, 50 White 1974 Fender Precisions at discounted price of $295, that's £9200 with free delivery. Allow 20% for customs and VAT, £11040. Sell on Basschat for say £750 each, that's over £26000 profit. How can I lose?
