i've seen this beast the pictures don't do it justice, you should see the new one hes just made with 20 807s its even more of a beast!

BTW, there are [url="http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/technology/7909014.stm"]some blokes out there[/url] who have built their own water cooled desktop PC's, so if the heat of the valves ever became an issue then it might be possible to build a cooling system along these lines.

I suppose water and +/- 5 volts isn't quite as deadly as water and 2,500 volts.

Actually, quite allot of transmitter valves were liquid cooled - the valves this guy is using are quite small in comparison. There are probably no real limits to how powerful a valve amp can be other than how much weight you can lift.

I also recall seeing a [url="http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/strip-fans,1203.html"]computer immersed in vegetable oil[/url] for cooling reasons- handy if your deep fat fryer breaks and you fancy some chips. Although I suppose that would make the whole assembly virtually unliftable.

bigger transmitter tubes than these 813s have been cooled with hot water vapour. So imagine the next stage of a tube bassamp: 10000 Watts with it´s own heater for the steam.....

Volts and Watts aren't the killer, it's Amps that kills you. I've had plenty of lovely 240V wall shocks but at 2A it's not too bad.

However high enough volts can stop dodgy hearts, so don't try and burn a soldeing iron through the back of any plugs (as I once saw at high school in electronics class).

Not sure you need the sensitivity, a pair of those Acme 4x10s would be good I reckon.
