I'm new on the forum, but I'll just drop in this way:

Won it on Ebay 2 weeks ago and got it in on thursday!
To bad I haven't been able to capture the superb flamed maple body yet...

Best bass I've ever played, period.
I've tried them all (albeit briefly) and the Vinnie is by far my favourite in terms of sound and tonal options. It's damn near a perfect gigging bass - assuming you can get past the looks you get when you get on stage with one :)
Looking forward to the incredulity when I step up to the plate with me' Streamline and shake some bits loose.....

Well, here's me playing mine (yes, its on a station platform.........) a few weeks ago!

Its a Sonus Custom, with full Sims leds on the front and side edge. Redwood (although someone told me at the Moffat Bash over the weekend that they thought it was really Bubinga) and ash body. Brilliant bass!

Ah, I just joined, couldn't find any Zon porn and was about to start a thread.

OK, here's mine:

It's a Zon Sonus 5 Special fretless

Fabulous bass, picked it up secondhand for a ridiculous price when I lived in the States.

I've posted some Musicman porn on the Musicman thread if anyone's interested.

Some more Zon-porn with my new stack:

I see you also use yours with an Ashdown Stack, Greydad :)
It's really a good combo I think.
With my Legacy I get a superb rock-tone and with the Sonus it lends itself really good for funk, especially with the bridge pick-up soloed!

Zon + Ashdown = Good :)

Turn up the tube pre-amp and dial in a little sub and away we go

albi, how does the legacy sound compared to the sonus ?
you don't have sound clips, do you ?

They really are pretty different.
The neck on the Sonus has more the profile of a Jazz bass, so more arrow at the nut and a bit rounder.
While the Legacy has more of a "flattened-out" P-bass profile. A tad wider at the nut and a flatter neck than the Sonus.
In weight, the Sonus is REALLY lightweight, maybe the lightest bass I ever had(I think ash), while the Legacy is pretty hefty carrying around.(2 piece flamed maple body)
In tone, the Sonus really has the J-bass sound going on, but on steroids!
The Legacy on the other hand is more of a growler like a p-bass.
This makes that I prefer the Sonus more for playing in my jazz-ensemble and funk band, while the Legacy lends itself really well to my rockband.
They are both wonderful playing and versatile basses.

I don't ave any sound samples a the moment though..

A lot of activity so suddenly ^_^
Got more pics of that Sonus Custom 5? (the 5/2 has Seymour Duncan's as far as I know)
Seems like an older model with the gloss finish and not yet the new fretboard?

@ Green:
I have however a video on youtube for my audition at the ICMP:Link
Only the Sonus though and it's played far from perfect, but that's why I won't to study further off course :)

Well the wait is *KILLING ME* but my Zon Hyperbass is due to be completed around 30/5/2010.
It was ordered way back when dinosaurs ruled the Earth on 10/9/09

I will post pictures of it during the build process (as I've been promised them) as I get them....

If you're interested that is.... :)

Nice!

Did you order it through Mansons or direct from Joe Zon?
