Bass_Junkie Posted September 8, 2007 Posted September 8, 2007 what do people think to this bass? i have a westfield jazz bass and tried a squire p/j and rejected it cause it wasnt as much of a step up as i wanted. how is the neck compaired to a jazz bass? is it easy to play? how does it compare to a squire p/j or a westfield jazz? this would be my second bass and i would be looking to use it for band practises and small gigs untill i can get myself a really high-end bass. should i go for it? what are the pros/cons of this bass? Thanks. Bass_Junkie. Quote
setekh Posted September 8, 2007 Posted September 8, 2007 It's a great cheap bass. nice price - value ratio. the neck's reasonably slim...its somewhere between a jazz and a precision. I'd go for it...in the end, you might just like it and forget about a high-end bass for a while Quote
Bass_Junkie Posted September 8, 2007 Author Posted September 8, 2007 what about a peavey millenium BXP? passive version? Quote
setekh Posted September 8, 2007 Posted September 8, 2007 heard good things about those too...but still haven't had the chance to mess around with one so any specific comments would be me talking out of my ass haha anyway, there's nothing better than trying them both and see which one you like best Quote
OutToPlayJazz Posted September 9, 2007 Posted September 9, 2007 I'd go a little higher up the range & get the BB614... Lovely playing bass & 3-band active eq as well! Quote

Machines Posted September 9, 2007 Posted September 9, 2007 Definitely worth the money, it'll easily outclass the Squier/Westfield and is definitely good enough to play for years. The only possible con I can think of is it's resale value - Yamahas really don't hold their value very well, then again they are cheap to begin with ! I had a BB614 and only sold it to fund the acquisition of my Stingray. Quote
