I'm looking for a practice amp!

Just got back into playing again. I'm currently borrowing gear but want to get my own.

Looking to buy some sort of practice amp. I can't have anything big due to the size of the house and I need to be able to hide it from the kids ( suffice to say the youngest pair are available to tear down houses if you need anything like that doing).

Just wandered if anyone had any suggestions.

I use an Ashdown Perfect Ten and it is lovely.

I have been extremely pleased with Fender rumble 15.

My daughter wanted a practice amp for her birthday, I couldn't get her a fender at the time, so went for the line 6 model, (can't rememeber model number, but it was about £100). Got to say I'm impressed with it, plus it has some usefull effects: octaver being one.

I'd recommend the Marshall MB15, one of the cheapest practice amps around, comes with some great features and is quite loud for 15 watts (and it's a Marshall!).

However, the Line 6 Lowdown 15 looks great, with all the amp models.

I've had the Marshall and the Ashdown I've also used the Line 6.

IMO the Ashdown has the best clean tone but the Line 6 has more features.

A lot of people rave about these.

What did you think of the Marshall?

I really liked it but it didn't go low enough for me because it has a 8" instead of a 10" (I have the Perfect Ten mini rig 2 X 10).

I believe there is a big price difference between to Marshall and the Ashdown, the Marshall certainly does the job of a small and clean bass amp but for me the Ashdown has more range.

I started a similar thread a few weeks ago where I wanted an amp for playing along with friends in an acoustic set up. I spent ages going through old threads (to my surprise this isn't that hotly debated as topics go). I settled on a Kustom KBA16 which is no thrills and to the point. I've tried Marshall & Fender - both lacked decent tone. This makes my P-bass sound like a proper bass. I had a lot of people recommend the Ashdown stuff but this was a winner for me. There are a couple of 10w versions on EBay for less than £50 right now.

What is your budget buddy?
Around the £100 mark so the Ashdown and Marshall sound good options. The cube is very tempting but a bit too much.
Thanks for some really good info and links.

I'd bet you could find a s/h cube for £100. Worth looking for.

This is the Cube

This is the Micro Cube

I thought it was just the same model but with 30watts instead. Doesn't it have all the same features?

Only sold mine due to getting my GB Shuttle 3.0-10T Combo and not really needing to small amps
