anty
Play an 'Ibanez atk700 - adtive bass' through a 'peavy tnt 115' Looking for a fuzz/overdrive pedal that will give the songs an added bite but not lose its bottom end. Would a blackstar Ht-dual or overdrive be suitable at all for active bass use? http://www.myspace.com/commonbredtrigger Also for playing live should I use a compressor/limiter or anything else? Thanks for any reply to my beginners thread
mildmanofrock
I find the EBS Multidrive quite good. Some bemoan it's lack of tone control, but I haven't tried it in a live setting though, so can't comment. Quite dear new, but you may be able to pick up one second hand for £80 to £100? danlea
Can't listen to the myspace at work, but unless you're a bunch of mentalists, you're audience will probably appreciate some compression. MultiDrive, HT Dual... yeah, should be fine with either, but also look at DHA pedals (dual valve ones ideally) for both fuzz (Si/Ge) and valve overdrive. These pedals have an input pad for your active bass if you need it.
DanOwens
I was in a similar position to you (at least regarding the OD) and opted for a cheap secondhand DHA VT Dual Bass. It really is a great pedal and when you crank it, it even compresses a little. He now has a bunch of newer pedals that look even better so a thumbs up for DHA from me too. Also, its hand-made (I think) in the UK so its got that extra blag-factor!
