stingrayfan
My otherwise trusty Warwick Profet 5.1 head played up at the weekend. Did a gig with it fine on Friday, then went to plug it in on Sat to do another and it was silent. The head was on, there was signal going in (the "clip" and "compressors" lights were flashing as normal), the cab was fine, as was the lead connecting the two. Switched it off and left it for a while, then powered it back up and it was fine. It was like the output stage was stuck in mute. Is this an issue with Warwick heads? My confidence in it is slightly shaky now...

stacedabass
hey i have a warwick x-treme head and i have just looked at the manual on their website as i rememberd reading it that the warwick amps have protective circuits incase of bad power conditions. here have a gander at the manual it will explain it better than i can, go down to page 7/8 http://warwick.de/media/manuals/ProFet/WW_PROFET_EN.pdf C ya, Nick
stingrayfan
Thanks for that. Come to think of it, I'm a bit lazy about turning the head on and off and tend to just pull the plug out of the wall without reducing the master volume and switching the power switch off. Maybe powering on at almost maximum volume caused it to trip. Er... Will treat it a bit better in future!
BREN TRAVIS
Warwick amps mute the powerstage whenever they detect an interruption or short circuit, at any point between the powerstage and speaker(s). I recently blew a horn on one of my 4X10's and the amp lit the 'mute' LED repeatedly until I disconnected the horn, to restore the circuit. Turning down could help, but if a speaker is one it's way out, or you have a bad speaker cable or socket on the cab, it will trip the protection circuit the moment the coil vibrates enough to interrupt the output. All the best.
