joescartwright
Hi Guys, I'm looking to get a distortion/overdrive unit which has the ability to blend the distorted signal with the clean one, so i can get a growly grinding kind of distortion but still keep my own tone, similar to dirk lance on incubus tracks like out from under. Any suggestions would be great. Cheers
thisnameistaken
There's loads. Maybe start with the Boss ODB-3, it's got a blend control on it and you can usually pick them up used fairly cheap. It might also be worth trying the Digitech Bad Monkey - they are dirt cheap and don't really need a clean blend, there's still lots of bottom available. It's an amazingly good pedal for the price. Ultimately it depends what sort of dirt you're going for, on that Incubus tune it's difficult to tell what the bass is providing, dirt-wise. Bear in mind there are always ways of mixing any particular dirt pedal with a clean signal (the Boss LS-2 is the cheap route, or a Barge Concepts blender, or the Xotic blender, etc.) so if dirt is all you're doing, it might be worth finding the right dirt and then doing the mixing outboard. steve
+1 for the bad monkey, also if your any good with a soldering iron, take a look at the bazz fuss thread in this sub forum, half way down page one is a vero baord layout for a blender. Build that and you increase your options

M4L666
I just bought a Bad Monkey off my mate, you can get great tones out of it, if you turn down the gain it's nice and subtle, but crank the treble and gain and it's essentially a distortion. I use mine for THRASH MODE!
