Having owned both a Godin and a Veillette, I have to say the latter smokes the former in every way... but then it is twice as much too!

I've had some experience with the Godin too (reviewed it for Performing Musician mag – http://www.performing-musician.com/pm/dec0...cles/godin.htm). The synth output was fun but I wasn't entirely convinced by the bass itself - sounds ok but playability, fit and finish aren't up to much.

How much cash is one of these honeys anyhow?

Just out of idle curiosity, you understand

Well the blue bass in my avatar, which is about as simple and inexpensive as a Veillette can get, would be around £1900 (although it varies a bit with currency movements). Something like Gareth's (walbasist) Archtop would be around £2600.

There's always one of these to consider:

Side note: There's someone selling a 4-string one on here right now.

Another Concorde pic from NAMM (thank you Bass Guitar Magazine )

Doesn't help me decide if it's long or shortscale.

Thanks for posting the pic Andy. I'm always the last to see these things!

I'm pretty certain the Concorde is 34". The Minotaur bass on its right is definitely a short scale instrument and the Concorde looks much longer.

Lovely looking Martin Keith bass (Martin works with Joe Veillette, hence him sharing a NAMM stand) to the left of the Concorde.

Have to say it's very good of Joe to name a bass after an aircraft that the Americans couldn't build :)
