i have found an old 1x15 cabinet with speaker which needs replacing.it still sounds very good but the speaker cone has a rip about an inch long and currently has some tape over it!The cab looks hand made and is very heavy for its compact size. What are the best speakers to buy for depth and volume and possibly weight issues.i know a lot of 15"s sound muddy and want to avoid those. Also the best place to get them. :)

Measure up the cab and WIN ISD it. Does it have a port (hole) in it? Is it shaped in such a way you can adjust its length (like a tube you can extend, or a slot you can partially block.

If you want to save some cash to could try a more permanent repair - http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?s=&sho...st&p=224654

Synaesthesia reckoned lens cleaning tissue soaked in PVA works as well.

Won't hurt to try...

Eventually the adhesive will dry out and fail. Use the tissue PVA trick, applied on both the inside and outside of the cone. Silkscreen fabric also works well.

Someone's reading my posts... :)
Tape is very rock and roll but the ol' tissue trick is more permanent, and is not likely to peel off mid gig which might give you buzzaw distortion when you don't expect it.

Yeah, I liked the idea of carrying about PVA and lens tissue far more than my suggestion of nail varnish and tights. :)
