riff raff Posted July 30, 2009 Posted July 30, 2009 interested in what the guys using these think. Quote
lemmywinks Posted July 30, 2009 Posted July 30, 2009 I bought a set ages ago because Jason Newsted used them. Thought i could get his meaty sound without the Sadowsky and massive rig! They sounded great but i broke one a week into using them. Quote
riff raff Posted July 30, 2009 Author Posted July 30, 2009 worth a try then if they sounded good.didnt know newsted used them. Quote
Oscar South Posted July 31, 2009 Posted July 31, 2009 (edited) They're all I use. Lighter gauges have a tendancy to fretbuzz on the G string if your action is low but other than that they're flawless imo. Great tone, long lasting and really good feel. I've never broken one and I think I can play pretty agressively, but I've ever broken a bass string period so maybe I'm gentler than I think. Here are some live recordings of a light gauge (100-80-60-40 I think) on my Status bass: http://files.getdropbox.com/u/134504/Crosswinds.mp3 http://files.getdropbox.com/u/134504/All%20Blues.mp3 Edited July 31, 2009 by Oscar South Quote
