tdizzle Posted August 5, 2009 Posted August 5, 2009 Hello, I have a couple of 70s Jazz Bass that need fret jobs (74 and 76). I want to get as close to the original fret size as possible. Does anyone know what size Fender used in the 70s? The frets seemed to be lower and wider in profile than what you see today. Thanks Quote
Musky Posted August 5, 2009 Posted August 5, 2009 I can't say I know the actual size of Fender fret wire, but Fender do sell frets marketed as vintage fret wire. Quote
The Bass Doc Posted August 5, 2009 Posted August 5, 2009 Fender's vintage fretwire is to early 60s specs - quite thin - 70s should be wider. Maybe their 'standard' size would be more appropriate. Quote
Rhutch Posted March 2 Posted March 2 Get a vernier caliper and measure them. The width should be in the high 90’s - 0.098”, and the height in the 40s. Likely 0.043” Quote
Doctor J Posted March 2 Posted March 2 I wonder will tdizzle return for a second post after almost 16 years? Quote
