Ghost Rider Posted August 6, 2009 Posted August 6, 2009 Hi All I have just bought a Jap Squier P bass off a fellow BC but I was thinking it would look nice to get the body back to the nice wood colour. I'm sure it has a Polyurethane Finish so what would be the best way to remove it? What type of wood varnish or oil should be used & would any prep work that would need to be carried out? Cheers Quote
Grissle Posted August 9, 2009 Posted August 9, 2009 Look for a stripper that says its for polyurethane etc. After the clear and color coats are off you'll still have the sand & sealer to deal with if need be, but if all looks good to you, you can proceed to the prep work(sanding with 320 up to 600-800 grit)and then the finish of your choice. There's Tru-oil(easy wipe-on), wipe-on poly's, spray-on poly's, nitrocellulose laquer etc. Quote
