stanton119
Logic Pro has just been updated to Logic Studio: a collection of programmes that includes logic pro 8 all the jam packs. Theres also a new logic express which includes the best plug-ins from logic pro - doesnt seem like cut down versions. And they both seem much cheaper. Logic pro 7 was £700 - but logic studio is £320... garbev
The new Logic does look great, I think you get about 20gb of loops and surround beds as well. Absolute bargain for £129, and no XS key to lose!
urb
So what happens if I buy this from the US - will I be paying 150 quid? And will I get taxed - if that's the full package for $320 that is unbeleivable value... I just got Ableton Live 5 which is amazing but I'd still like to get Logic - and combine them both... Any thoughts gents?
garbev
The £129 is the upgrade from Logic Pro7. The full retail is £329 a huge price cut from Pro7 which was around £599.

I did some googling last night and couldn't fomd anywhere aprt from the Apple store that was selling it - maybe I'll pay them a visit in London - or just wait a few months until it's on Ebay on a 'buy now' thing - they are normally legit and at least a third off. Thanks again for flagging this up Mike
G-77
I just paid 625 for logic pro7, i will qualify for the free upgrade, but still slightly annoyed!!! Urb, it will probably take a few days for it to filter through the the Resellers, apparent the london Apple store has the full vers, but sold out of the upgrades quite quickly. charic
The price cut probably has something to do with the mac only compatability... pro-tools will be getting more attention on the pc nowadays. My program of choice personally but im gutted i cant have logic at home.
slaphappygarry
Logic, IMHO, has long been due an overhaul. The layout makes no sense at all for major production jobs. For a composition tool its brilliant and i look forward to checking out version 8 but to be honest - its Pro Tools all the way here.
NJW
its such a tough cookie what with apple trying to dominate the market with logic (you cant deny thats what theyre trying to do with such a cheap package of amazing software!) and with the protools hardware issues that dominate PC based DAW's. I personally use Steinberg Nuendo, as I'm PC based but refuse to shell out for protools hardware, and would rather use MOTU a/d units.
