GLX Boss Hog pedals from ebay

Has anyone bought and used any of these pedals? Obviously they are very keenly priced. Are they excellent value for money - or just cheap?

Yeah, the blurb makes coy references to Boss, doesn't it? It's almost asking us to assume they're the same units! I wonder if that's clever marketing or if, in actual fact, they use the same or similar design and components. It looks like the chassis are virtually identical - colour and front edge aside. If the sound quality is the same, what's not to like?

Resale value and the fact the rounded corners stops the paint chipping so they don't become 'reliced'.

I have the chorus and (IMO) it is very nice.
I can't hear any difference between 'it' and a Boss.

Okay, well I've picked up a second hand CEB-3 and taken the plunge on one of the Boss Hog Distortion pedals at the same time. Damn those Wednesday afternoon dips into ebay. Here's hoping...

Be interested to hear how you got on with this as I've just come across the same item on my search for a cost-effective EQ stompbox.
I see Artec also have some cheap units - any good?

I use one of the Limiters. I know one of the companies that import them and they assure me they are made in the same factory as Boss pedals.
You have to draw your own conclusion from that statement.

Pedal arrives 2 days later - looks really good for £39, rugged, rounded, does what its supposed to do pretty silently (at home practice vol anyway) and range of cut/boost on the 7 bands is perfectly adequate for the job.

They seem a bit more expensive nowadays than when they first appeared on Ebay, but still a bit of a bargain. I have the Bass Limiter/Enhancer and Guitar EQ, and they're both excellent :-)
