pantherairsoft
Cheers guys… I'm happy with the clean up, looks and play's lovely. The string spacing is a little tight for my liking and the neck a little thicker than I'm used to but it sounds bloody lovely, and it will more than do as a temporary measure until these babies are ready later this year.. I never thought I'd use it outside of the funky blues stuff I do, but since I have been using it with my rock band it's been the instrument of choice. Really varied tone for a fretless... pantherairsoft
No no no.... The larger units happily sit on the floor (SL-20 and DD-20) and the tuner only goes where my main rig doesn't (as there is a Korg rack tuner with it). I am not taking a bigger board again... I can carry this one!

EskimoBassist
Lots of win. Thought about the Moog LPF? Or do you just use your Super Synth for that? I know it's a small thing, but I would get a bit annoyed not being able to fit my tuner on my board!

So far I'm coping without one... And... I have no space! Lol. Not fitting the tuner on the board is a little annoying. But, it's kind of an 'add-on'... If I use my TC amp it has a tuner built in, and if I use my EBS rig then I have a Korg Rack tuner, so I'll only use a pedal tuner if I'm amp sharing/using someone elses rig. pantherairsoft
This is more of a blog post than a gear update, but with all the \'My life in bass\' threads about it got me thinking about the basses I have owned and sold. I\'ll try and lost them all, in order of ownership and over the next day or so I\'ll try find a pic of each... Started when I was 17 with a Squire P-Bass, red with White scratch plate. I sold this to a local \'Cash Generator\' to buy a Vintage Stingray Copy they had in the window. It was a lovely tobacco sunburst. At the time I thought it was an uber bargain as I thought it was an actual Stingray. I soon learnt my Lesson. The Vintage Was sold to a small 2nd hand guitar shop which is now closed. The owner was a bit crazy and clearly made the same mistake I made over the vintage as I was able to trade it for two basses from his shop! The frost was a gorgeous Ibanez TR series bass, an older one with the pointy headstock. It was red sparlke with black headstock and looked awesome. I seemed to recall it had a signature on the headstock, but I may be incorrect. Identical model to this except it was red sparkle body - The 2nd was a Honer Fretless Jazz. Black with White scrachplate. It was an unlined fretless and the strings were a mile off the fretboard. As I had no idea about bass setups and couldn\'t play fretless to save my life I quickly sold it to my tutor at college... The Ibanez stayed with my though my time at college and was by far TR best bass I\'d ever tried at the time. This was until I picked up a Yamaha BBG5 in what used to be Fox\'s music in Nottingham. It was my 1st 5 string and inwas instantly in love. I sold the Ibanez to a friend and bought the Yamaha. It was a lovely cherry-burst-esque finish with gold hardware. It had a stunning active preamp like nothing I\'d tried at the time and looked cool. Around this time I was gigging lots and doing some short tour stuff and wanted a spare bass. I had also discovered eBay and without thinking bought a Status Shark II 5 string. Red with White scratch plate (as it reminded me of my 1st bass) and I loved the body shape and the single chrome pickup. This remained a back-up instrument for a long time and while I prefered the feel to the Yammy it never sounded as good. When times got hard... I sold it! Doh. The Yamaha stayed for a number of years. It did an album and 2 tours. Great bass for the money. After a while I started to get jaded with the less than efficient battery life of the preamp. I think it was quite and early active system for Yamaha and had nowhere near the battery life that preamps have now. I set to find a great sounding Passive bass. A band called Big Sister (later became Sanzen) used to rehearse at our studio and there bassist Andy had money issues and needed shot of his Warwick Streamer STD. It was a fairy new model at the time and while they are now known as an older version of the Rock Bass, at the time it was awesome. I sold the Yamaha to a friend (Who still has it, and is looking to sell it on!!), bought the Warwick and pocketed some change from the deal. I also bought a Red Ashbory at this time, but sold it some months later due to not finding a practical use for it. This is something I now really regret!! The Warwick - The Warwick was my touring bass with my band at the time (Salt:Burn) and was kept for ages.... Years in fact. After some years of doing little musically I gave up bass playing and sold my Warwick on eBay for sod all and didn\'t touch a bass for 2 years. My friend that bought the Yamaha asked if I\'d give it a set up and I did. 20 minutes after picking it up I realsised I had made a great mistake and had to strt playing again... My friend let me keep the Yammy until I bought my own again... And then I discovered Basschat... It goes out of hand from there. You could basically go to post one on the this thread here and you'd know what happened from there, but here\'s a brief run down... pantherairsoft
After discovering BassChat it sounds something like this... Overwater Evolution Custom 5. This was my first custom build. The bass was gorgeous and the sound was amazing. The bass was however soooooo heavy I just couldn\'t play it standing up. I traded this for the Roscoe. GB Spitfire 5. Bought after Bassday last year. GB\'s have a sound like no other and if it wasn\'t for the fact I wanted a 6 version I\'d still own this. Great retro look as well. Schecter Stilletto 6. Bought as a back up 6. Great for the money, but didn\'t take me long to realise I just don\'t like neck-thru basses. Not sure why, I just don\'t. Sold it on here for an absolute bargain. Roscoe Century Standard 6 Fretless. From Bass Direct in exchange for my Overwater. The most comfy bass I have ever played to date. This, for me, is the daddy! Warwick Thumb BO 5. Bought from a friend who was a 4 string player. Got it for a great price, sold it on here for a great price as I was sticking to 6ers. This is the nicest looking Thumb I\'ve seen and sounded killer. Godlyke Disciple 5. Got in trade for my Markbass cab. Cool, but the move to 6 strings meant I sold it, again to a friend. Now resides with the bassist of Cruel Humanity. Yamaha TRB 1006. Bought as a clean up project. Looks great and sound how I\'d expect a Yamaha to sound. If it was 35\" scale I would also still own this! KSD Proto-J 704. Got in trade for the TRB in an attempt to rediscover 4 strings. Not for me! Quickly sold on to the bassist for Mel B amongst other artists. Each bass was basically sold to fund another, with the exception of the Roscoe which is a keeper. The GB was returned to fund my GB Spitfire 6 which is in the build process as we speak, and the rest went to fund my RIM Marseer 6 which is also nearing completion. I 'think' thats it...
