OldGit
Interesting article I remembered during the discussion on how rubbish promotors are, it's related.. The Top Five Reasons You Will Fail In Music http://www.musicdish.com/mag/?id=12479 "Too many musicians put too much energy and effort into talking about why things have not happened or why things are not working for them. Everyone has reasons, justifications and rationale to explain why they are failing, yet these same artists do not take the steps to problem solve, change direction, learn, educate or empower themselves with the knowledge and the tools to change the path. thepurpleblob
Interesting read and good advice. Doesn't really just apply to the music business either. If you want to succeed you have to put the hours in....

Cat Burrito
Interesting thread and some interesting responses. I agree with a lot of the sentiment here. I don't want to make it in the industry and gave up 10yrs ago but I feel I am making it with music. It's a much happier place to be!

The Funk
I always found this article useful too. I keep going back to it. Music's a tough thing because you need the confidence to keep going AND the awareness to gauge exactly what's currently working and what's not. Kind of like keeping your feet on the ground and your head in the clouds.
