Veils
I used one with an SVT2. Now I know you are probably thinking I shouldn't need one, but the SVT2 sounded crap on stage and I genuinely needed it, but it sounded good anyway. I just have this feeling the SVT2 only really sounds good when a pick is used and it is played hard. Something I will never be doing....... nash
i really want to try one with my sunn. there's something missing in my tone. nothing signficant but something. especially when i run through cheaper cabs which is obvs.
Veils
I think they Aphex pedals are great. I offloaded mine as I had some problems with reliability with them (I went through 3 new ones in a few months) but they do sound good.

BargyBass
I've used mine with various valve amps supplied as backline at big festival gigs we've done, and it's been great.. I'm more than happy with the grunt and thump it adds..

Toasted
Nash - I'd definitely try out a compressor. Aphex is as good of a start as any. Pick one up from Sound Control - be careful with the packaging and return it if you dont like it.

Toasted
Yup, probably just lifts the level of the signal a bit too - so it feels like it's giving that extra clarity
