aphex bass xciter and valve amp

has any one used one with an all valve amp?

i had one when i had my ashdown and it was lush for my p-bass. i'm tempted to get one again.

I used one with an SVT2.

Now I know you are probably thinking I shouldn't need one, but the SVT2 sounded crap on stage and I genuinely needed it, but it sounded good anyway.

I just have this feeling the SVT2 only really sounds good when a pick is used and it is played hard. Something I will never be doing.......

i really want to try one with my sunn. there's something missing in my tone. nothing signficant but something. especially when i run through cheaper cabs which is obvs.

I think they Aphex pedals are great.

I offloaded mine as I had some problems with reliability with them (I went through 3 new ones in a few months) but they do sound good.

i can't remember why i sold mine. never had a problem and i wish i still had mine.

I've used mine with various valve amps supplied as backline at big
festival gigs we've done, and it's been great.. I'm more than happy
with the grunt and thump it adds..

Hey NAsh.....whats this .....3 forums were' able to "chat" on Now???? I know ther's more out there BUT some.... well...... better left alone....
Now I've NEVER tried an Aphex anything so....can't he;p ya there. Outta interest what cabs DO U run yr SUNN 300 into usually. I rum mine into a Berg NV610 usually, sometimes into my Aguilar GS112 & MESA/EV TL115 oor sumtimes intop just the Mesa/EV TL115 15". I LOVE the sound of the amp into the NV610 best but the 15" is great too!

i play through loads off different cabs. rarely do i use mine at a gig.

Nash - I'd definitely try out a compressor. Aphex is as good of a start as any.

Pick one up from Sound Control - be careful with the packaging and return it if you dont like it.

i've got a comp on my sunn built in. i quite like it as it gives the tone a boost etc.

Yup, probably just lifts the level of the signal a bit too - so it feels like it's giving that extra clarity
