Linus27 Posted August 25, 2009 Posted August 25, 2009 I have a Genz Benz Shuttle 6 amp and the volume dial crackles when I turn it, mostly from zero volume (7 o clock) up about 4 notches (9 o clock). I am assuming that its just dirty. Is there any thing I can spray onto it to clean it? If yes, whats the best way to go about this? The volume dial cover can pull off revealing a peg with a nut on the end. I am sure if I undo the nut, the peg will fall into the amp casing. So is it better to see if the amp cover comes off and approach it that way? Any help really appreciated. Quote
neepheid Posted August 25, 2009 Posted August 25, 2009 It's better to get access to the body of the pot in question - there's usually a gap in the casing where you can squirt in some switch/contact cleaner. Servisol Super 10 is the cleaner I use, there may well be other products but that's the one I know and trust. Squirt some in the hole then turn the pot back and forth several times to (hopefully) work the magic. Quote
BOD2 Posted August 25, 2009 Posted August 25, 2009 Take the cover off the amp, locate the noisy pot, and use the "straw attachment" to spray a little Servisol inside the pot. More info here .. Grissle Posted August 26, 2009 Posted August 26, 2009 This is the best stuff you can get, add the DeoxIT Gold for lasting protection http://www.stoneaudio.co.uk/ Quote
