Dr.Dave
Not really in the spirit of the thread but a pic of a bass that I enjoy to show that you don't need a 3 grand bass to inspire yourself or others. About 25 years ago I was picked up for a gig and the drummer had brought most of a Fender musicmaster bass with him. The guitarist donated a strat pickup , I brought strings and we made it work in the back of the car going to Pudsey using insulating tape. I played it that night with a camera strap screwed to the body as we had no strap pins. Drummer had just bought it for coppers to get his son to learn to play and he said the lad would be made up if he knew it was good enough for me to play on stage. He was too young to go in pubs , hence the pic to show him it was a 'pro's' instrument he could get good enough to gig with some day. 25 years on - the lad's a pro guitarist working the Canary Islands. Worth all the pratting about in the back of a car , I'd say. I went to see him while I was on hol a couple of years back - he had me playing with the band in Puerto Del Carmen and afterwards kept rattling on to his mates about the old Musicmaster , which he still has, treasures and uses. It still has the strat pup still wired in with insulating tape!!!

RhysP
This isn't one that was posted on the forum. I saw it listed on a Japanese music shop website whilst trawling the internet for Zon porn. This Zon Legacy was built for the winter NAMM show this year and is made from mango wood, which I think looks absolutely gorgeous.
4000
Ignoring my own, there's Loz's Alembic and Fodera, Moo's Starchild JD, that Sonic Blue Jazz from the other day, Urb's Sei s/cut, 6stringbassist's Sei s/cut, D-basser's buckeye Sei....and probably several others. I do like Greeneking's ACG too, and some of the Rims are great.
simon1964
I think there has to be a rule that you can't post your own bass - other wise I'd post the one in my avatar And GreeneKing, you're a braver man than me putting a mug on that particular coffee table!! lozbass
It's nice to be able to reciprocate! Take a look at the link for 4000's Triple Omega - that is the most stunning piece of walnut I've ever seen anywhere (it's truly hypnotic in the flesh). The bass itself is incredible - one of the finest I've ever had a chance to see/play (and in 30+ years, I've seen and played a lot). Alas the Triple Omega design is just too big for me to cope with. I find myself re-visiting the photographs frequently and remember having the opportunity to play the bass with great fondness - it's one of the 3 or 4 real standout basses I've encountered http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=...ic+triple+omega Edited August 28, 2009 by lozbass
4000
Ah Loz, that makes me weep. One of the saddest moments of my playing life, having to get rid of that. There are days I really wish I hadn't, but my reasons are sadly still valid. Thanks for the memories though. Seems you've forced my hand; here's yours! Dood
Call me a great big softie if you like, I don't care he he he!! I still smile when I open up my cases and see my dream basses in front of me. Simple clean lines, a beautiful peice of maple and a flip paint finish so I never have to think I chose the wrong colour Metallic Purple? Blue? Green? what will it be today?! purpleblob
I keep getting drawn to view this beautiful Wal 5 string every now and again. The beech top is stunning and having a Wal myself I know how good it will sound. And aplogies to 6stringbassist (yes I covert my fellow BC'ers Sei 6 string single cutaway)
