Mr. Foxen
Don't need loads of power into an 8x10, lots of speakers with low excursion, means you can run a not huge head and get quite loud, but a ludicrous amount of power will fart them out. Plenty of power amps will do 300+ w into 8 ohm.
chris_b
Hi, I had a great sound out of an SVT3 into a very old Ampeg 8x10 (I assume the cab was 4 ohm and the amp would have been on 100-150 watts) in a rehearsal studio a couple of years ago. And I've got a DVD of George Porter Jr using a Gallien Krueger 800RB (300 watts at 4 ohm) in to an Ampeg 8x10.
SS73
In our practice room I run a Marshall 69 JTM 45, 50 watts into an 810 cab at 4 ohms, there is absolutely no way anyone could stay in the room at over volume 5 and its a big room too. An 810 is not too much for a 50 watt'r. Why not fix the svt.
